Our Guiding Principle
The Dr. David M. Milch Foundation (DMF) is committed to supporting youth mentoring programs and arts based initiatives that foster positive social change. Guided by the principles of venture philanthropy, DMF works in close partnership with grantees to nurture their growth and development and to build a better future for their constituents and communities.
Dr. Milch is a 1981 graduate of Harvard Medical School, having completed his undergraduate studies in biology at Stanford University in 1976, after freshman admission to Amherst College at 16 yo in 1971, after attending Lawrence High School on Long Island, NY and serving as an interpreter at the 1972 Summer Olympic Games in Munich, Germany.
Upon finishing his clinical and medical research responsibilities in 1984 at Harvard, Dr. Milch moved to New York City to pursue a business career.
Dr. Milch's remarkable parents (father, Bernard, was knighted by the King of Sweden for his business successes; educator mother, Lusia, thriving at 93) were both survivors of the Holocaust, a family history which has significantly informed his career choices and personal priorities.
Between 1980 and 1989 Dr. Milch was a principal of Bermil Industries, a closely held corporation controlled by the Milch Family, involved with capital equipment manufacture and distribution, financing, real estate development, and other entrepreneurial activities. Bermil was ranked the 11th largest private enterprise on Long Island, NY in a 1987 survey by Peat Marwick. Currently under third generation Milch family control with ongoing success.
After a part of Bermil was sold to a public company in 1989, Dr. Milch turned a significant portion of his time and attention to venture investments in technology and the life sciences. Dr. Milch and his associates have invested in and advised a wide variety opportunities including The American Blood Institute (private sale), Intelligent Medical Imaging (IPO), Biofield (IPO), Nitinol (IPO), Datatec Systems (reverse merger), Warp Technologies (reverse merger), MiniMed (acquired by Medtronic), Advanced Bionics (acquired by Boston Scientific), Theravance (IPO), and many others over a 30 year venture and private equity career solely on behalf of the David Milch Family Office (DMFO).
Dr Milch founded Allium Medical (now AllMed Solutions, listed on TASE/Israel: ALMD) in 2006 shortly after initiating his extensive business and personal activities in Israel. DMFO has led or participated in every round of funding since inception and holds approximately 22% equity position.
ALMD is well positioned to becoming the leading fully integrated medical device company based in Israel. As Dr. Milch describes this..."The Medtronic of Israel”.
Dr. Milch arranged the first $25mil of investments in Althera Medical which he found as a project on the campus of Tel Aviv University, now renamed AlphaTau Medical (ATM).
Dr. Milch and his Healthcare Capital Corporation partners led the March ‘22 NASDAQ listing of ATM (DRTS).

Dr. Milch was an early investor in BioCatch, a biometrics based fintech company in Israel which recently achieved over $1.5bil private valuation.
In 2008 Dr. Milch was part of the small angel group which capitalized Games24X7 ("scientific gaming") in India, currently branded as RummyCircle, the largest online gaming success in India, valued above $2bil. DMFO retains a 5% position.

In 2014 Dr. Milch was invited to participate in the first biopharma spinout from well known genomics research leader Jackson Laboratories, Cyteir Therapeutics (deep dive DNA repair regulation technology) with co-investors Celgene Corporation, Venrock, Silverlake and others. IPO completed.

Dr. Milch's professional and personal journeys have provided him with unique insight into the powerful transformations in human well being that can occur when technology, economics, artistry and thoughtful giving support one another.
In 2010 David established the Dr. David M. Milch Foundation (DMF) to serve "Tikkun Olam" (healing the world) in two primary areas: Arts for Social Impact ("Ars Veritas” initiative) focused on film, theater, and visual arts; and Youth Mentoring, fostering leadership development and civic responsibility.
